Rideau Condo Renovation
Light, bright and beautiful with so much everyday function makes this updated condo perfect for this young couple. As they continue to push forward in their careers and decide the next steps for their lives, this space will be just the spot to grow.
Built in the 50s and refurbished in the 70s, the Rideau Place Condos in SW Calgary have certainly seen better days. My clients were ready to turn their outdated condo into a beautiful and functional home. From dark, cramped and dysfunctional to bright, warm and organized! This kitchen’s transformation was like night and day. Even without making a drastic change to the footprint, this kitchen serves my clients so much better. More storage, more counterspace and even a dishwasher (finally!) to make their lives easier, just by figuring out how to use the small space efficiently.
Another important aspect of this project was sticking to a reasonable budget and re-using items where possible. My clients had already purchased a new oven and fridge recently, so we were able to incorporate those into their new kitchen layout. The countertops were re-purposed from a family members kitchen as well as the cabinet hardware. It was a perfect way to reduce, reuse and recycle while still bringing in their own style and character. Combining the modern clean lines with some more traditional details bridges the gap between the couple's two styles and also updates the space for future resale.
My clients are beyond happy with the final results and just can't believe what could be done with their space. New flooring and paint throughout along with the major kitchen renovation really updated the space. The lighter, brighter colors really made the space feel so much more open and bright. We added pot lights throughout and updated the dining room chandelier to match the aesthetic of the space. We even added a dry bar in the living space for added storage and function.
